Christmas is known as the most magical time of year, and the many beautifully decorated homes and businesses throughout the Saucon Valley area are evidence of that. But sadly, the holidays aren’t a joyful time for everyone. For many families who are struggling just to make ends meet the “most wonderful time of year” can be a stress-filled season devoid of hope.
Saucon Source wants to help local families in need this Christmas, and we’re asking for you to do something simple in order to help us do that while brightening the holidays for everyone in our area.
This month, for every photo we receive of a local holiday light display, we’re committing to donating $1 to a local food bank (up to a maximum amount of $300). Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., of Hellertown, and Bob’s Valley Wide Carpet Care of Bethlehem, have generously agreed to match whatever amount is raised.
To share your photo, simply email it to
jo**@sa**********.com
with “Holiday Lights” in the subject line. Please include your name, address and phone number in the email, for verification purposes (if necessary).
Phone camera photos are fine. All photos should be clear and your own work. Please submit photos of your own home or business only. Photos should be free of advertising and anything that is trademarked. Saucon Source reserves the right not to publish photos any which are blurry or inappropriate, and to crop photos if necessary for presentation purposes.
The deadline to submit your photo is Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018.
The week of Dec. 17 we’ll announce how much money has been raised and publish the photos we have received in an online gallery or galleries organized by community and/or neighborhood, so fans of Christmas lights can plan a driving or walking tour and enjoy your lights as much as you do.
Addresses will be the only information listed in the caption for each photo.
Photos from the following municipalities will be accepted: Hellertown borough, Lower Saucon Township, Upper Saucon Township, Coopersburg borough, Springfield Township (Bucks County), Williams Township, Freemansburg, Bethlehem (city), Fountain Hill and Salisbury Township.
Please note: This is not a holiday lights contest. There will be no voting for photos. The purpose of the gallery is simply to help others in our community see and admire the prettiest Christmas light displays around.
