The annual Community Pep Rally and Bonfire that are part of Homecoming festivities at Saucon Valley High School went off without a hitch Thursday, unlike last year, when wet weather forced the bonfire’s repeated postponement til the end of the school year.

This year’s bonfire blazed brightly as did the excitement at the pep rally in the gym, where Homecoming Court member Thomas Spirk was named this year’s king.

Spirk will meet his Queen at tonight’s football game, when the Panthers (4-1 in the Colonial League) will take on the Bangor Area Slaters (also 4-1 in the league) at 7 p.m. at Montford E. Illick Stadium on the Saucon Valley School District campus.

Also recognized during the pep rally were senior members of Saucon’s fall sports.
