Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day was held Saturday and drew hundreds of local residents to Dimmick Park, where more than 70 vendors representing dozens of local businesses and organizations were gathered. The day was filled with music, demonstrations, food and much more. The 2017 Community Commitment Award was presented to longtime Hellertown mayor Richard Fluck, who is retiring at the end of the year after 47 years of public service to the borough.

The historic pavilion in Hellertown's Dimmick Park has long been identifiable at night by the yellow incandescent bulbs that outline the perimeter of its roofline. As part of ongoing renovations to the pavilion, however, that lighting will be changed to something more modern and cost-efficient, borough council decided Tuesday.
