Hellertown Micropantry Will Make Food More Available for Those in Need

A 7-year-old Hellertown resident had a delightful surprise Monday night, when the members of Dewey Fire Co. No. 1 presented him with his own customized jacket and helmet and made him an official designated junior crew member.
Several Saucon Valley High School students helped make a difference by volunteering at the 2016 Lehigh Valley Walk to Defeat ALS, which was held Saturday at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown.
It's been nearly 15 years since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks claimed thousands of innocent American lives and changed the United States forever. One group of volunteers from Dewey Fire Co. No. 1 in Hellertown is planning to memorialize the firefighters who lost their lives that day with a special event at the Saucon Valley School District Stadium on the anniversary of the attacks.
Representatives from the volunteer fire companies and police departments that serve the Saucon Valley were on hand to be recognized at Boy Scout Troop 319's annual Blue and Gold Dinner at New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lower Saucon Township Saturday, along with a scout who sold an amazing amount of popcorn as part of a fundraiser for the troop.
Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community is a beloved annual Saucon Valley tradition, but its future is in doubt, as a new cadre of volunteers is needed to keep the one-day event viable, according to organizers.
