The official start of winter is still more than a month away, and Thanksgiving is still two weeks away, but Mother Nature, apparently, doesn’t care about the calendar.
Snow is in the forecast for Nov. 13.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for light snowfall in the Lehigh Valley Thursday night between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.
According to the outlook, a period of snow is possible early Thursday evening, with accumulations between a tenth of an inch and an inch anticipated.
“Most of the one inch amounts should occur at higher elevations and especially north of Interstate 78,” the NWS statement said.
Interstate 78 bisects the northern Saucon Valley area.
Skies are expected to clear overnight, with temperatures dropping into the 20s, so there will be the opportunity for icy patches to form, especially on untreated roads.
Temperatures through the weekend are forecast to be below normal, with highs in the lower 40s and lows in the 20s.
There will be another chance of winter weather Sunday night and Monday, according to the extended National Weather Service forecast.
