Est. Read Time: < 1 min

A Saucon Valley Girl Scout was one of several presenters of a prestigious Centennial Award to tennis legend and Philadelphia Freedoms owner Billie Jean King at a ceremony at Philadelphia’s Comcast Center Wednesday.

Micaela Jebitsch is a junior Girl Scout in Troop 8860.

The award was presented to King in recognition of “her efforts to help bring about equality to sports for girls and women,” Micaela’s mother, Hillary, explained.

A post on the Facebook page for Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania said “we’re honored to celebrate our SHERO Billie Jean King (a Girl Scout!) and award her the Centennial Award for her leadership to speak up for inclusion and equality. We thank you for having the courage, confidence and character to stand up for girls and women around the world!”
