Senior Lauren Binn, who is known by her nickname “LB,” had a record-setting week for the Panthers girls soccer team. Against Notre Dame-Green Pond, she broke the previous school record for goals scored in one game with five!
She also added an assist in that game. Next came Catasauqua, where she added one goal and one assist to her total. To cap off her phenomenal week, LB handed in another great performance against Oley Valley. In that game she recorded a hat trick (three goals) and added another assist. In total, Lauren finished with nine goals and three assists. What a week for LB, Coach Ochse and the Saucon Valley girls soccer team!
In a Saucon Source article published this past January, Coach Stevie Ochse took a few moments to talk about how special LB truly is.
“Lauren is one of the most skilled players to come through Saucon Valley. Her field vision and scoring abilities make her a prolific play-maker… She is only concerned with the accomplishments of the team. She is not the type of player who follows her stats.”
Congratulations Lauren, and good luck the rest of the way!
Notable Achievements
Volleyball player Brittany Yeahl. Brittany stood out enough to be Coach Heather Lockner’s MVP for the Panthers’ Lehighton game. It has been over three years since they were able to beat that team, and her serving is what kept the Panthers in every game and brought them back when they were down. She changed the momentum with not only her serving, but also her hitting. Because of her, the Panthers were able to creep back up from a 7-point deficit to take the set and the win!
Football player Evan Culver. Evan helped lead the Panthers to a 28-14 victory over Northern Lehigh. He led the Panther rushing attack with 221 yards on 34 carries. He also added three touchdowns, and one of those runs was the winner of this past week’s Panther Play of the Week!
Soccer Captain Zach Harvey. Coach Mel Moyer has been playing Zach at multiple positions, and he has been excelling all over the soccer pitch. He is the ultimate team player and is the catalyst for their undefeated record in Colonial League action!
