Saucon Valley ran one offensive play and scored the game winning touchdown at Wilson yesterday.  The Panthers executed a second offensive play and scored a second touchdown.  Saucon ran six first quarter plays against the Warriors and scored four touchdowns to build a 28-0 lead.  With the halftime score 49-0, the Panthers needed only 18 plays to tally the 7 touchdowns.  The Panthers marched on to a 55-0 mercy-rule stomping over the Wilson Warriors Saturday in Wilson.

Evan Culver was again in dominant form behind the Hogs as he had three first quarter touchdown runs.    Culver scored on runs of 23, 62 and 82 yards all in the first quarter.  He finished the day with an extraordinary 173-yards on 4 carries for an average of 43-yards per touch.  Culver extends his school record to 51 career touchdowns.

Zach Thatcher #7

Zach Thatcher (#7)

Quarterback Zach Thatcher added a first quarter touchdown run of 62 yards as the Panthers built a 28-0 first quarter lead against the Warriors. Thatcher continued to put on a show in the second quarter as he ran for a 9-yard touchdown and threw for another. His touchdown pass was a 64-yard strike to “Mr. Highlight”, Nate Harka. Thatcher finished with 2 carries for 75-yards (2 TD’s) and was 3 of 5 for 105-yards passing (1 TD).  Harka is now an official member of the “1,000 Yard Receiving Club” with his 2 catches for 76-yards and a touchdown.  Harka is only 1 of 5 Panthers to claim such an honor.

Brandon Holub (#12)

Brandon Holub (#12)

With Thatcher and Culver on the bench, Panther reserve quarterback Brandon Holub picked up where Thatcher left off and hit Mike Kane for an eleven yard touchdown pass in the side of the end zone late in the 2nd Quarter.  Kane, coincidentally, is following Harka into the record books and only needs four yards to reach the 1,000 yard milestone.  The Panthers led at the intermission 49-0.

Saucon Valley would strike for their final points with the clock constantly running due to the mercy-rule being in effect.  Saucon scored a 76-yard touchdown run courtesy of Brandon Holub.  Holub, a junior, surely had a memorable day scoring his first two varsity touchdowns.

Mike Paolini (#48)

Mike Paolini (#48)

The Panther offense tallied 584 total yards of offense averaging an unbelievable 16-yards per carry.  Defensively, the Panthers were again “lights-out” allowing the Warriors only 10 first downs and 188 total yards of offense.  Mike Paolini tackled his way to the top of the record books with his 10th career sack.  He currently shares the honor with 2003 graduate Kevin Branco.

Domination once again for the Panthers.  Saucon Valley seems to be peaking for the final stretch of the regular season. Next week the Panthers look for their eighth victory and return home for a Friday night clash against winless Bangor. Saucon Source will be there and we hope you are too!
