Stephen J. Szoke, 89, of Lower Saucon Township, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown.szoke He was the husband of Anna T. (Bandzi) Szoke. He was born in Walnutport on May 19, 1927 to the late Paul and Eva (Polak) Szoke. Stephen served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne. He worked in the Coke Oven Division of Bethlehem Steel for 41 years until retiring in 1986. Stephen was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown, Holy Name Society, New Beginnings Senior Citizens, Quakertown Moose, Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown, West Easton Athletic Association and Southeastern Volunteer Fire Co.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving spouse of 67 years; children: Andrew J. (Wanda) Szoke of Bangor, Barbara A. (Thomas) Weikert of Bethlehem, Stephen S. (Dorothy) Szoke of Antioch, Ill.; brothers: James (Shirley) of Walnutport, Louis of Walnutport, Ernest (Cleta) of Doylestown; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by siblings: Paul, Joseph, Charles, Alex, Michael, Frank, John, Mary Kun, Rose Bucher, Elizabeth Jenson.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa’s, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment with military honors will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
