A Lower Saucon Township man is facing charges after police say he attacked his girlfriend and then allegedly used a hammer in an attempt to smash through the locked door to a bathroom where she was hiding.

In a news release issued Wednesday, police said Kevin Carver, 24, of the 1900 block of Leithsville Road, “punched, kicked, then choked” his live-in girlfriend during a domestic dispute Monday evening.

Officers responded to their residence after receiving a 911 call in which a woman could be heard screaming, and then took Carver into custody, police said.

According to court records, Carver is charged with Criminal Attempt-Simple Assault, Simple Assault and Harassment.

Following a preliminary arraignment before District Judge Roy Manwaring Tuesday, Carver was released on $10,000 unsecured bail, the records state.

A preliminary hearing before District Judge Anthony G. Rapp Jr. is scheduled for July 3 at 9 a.m.
