Although it sometimes seems to get a bit lost in neighboring Bethlehem’s long shadow, Fountain Hill is a municipality in its own right. And this holiday season, some borough business owners are trying to help promote the unique “Hiller” identity via an alliance that is sponsoring a free Small Business Saturday passport event on Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The five participating businesses are all located in close proximity to one another in the area of the 900-1000 blocks of Broadway (between Clewell and Hoffert streets). They are:

Some or all of these businesses will be offering special one-day deals.

For example, The Beauty of Dogs will have collars for sale from Div Dogs.  Twenty percent of each purchase will benefit Treasures Hope, a 501(c)3. Gift certificates will also be sold, and there will be goodies from Gracie (free to people with the passport).

A sixth mobile business based in Fountain Hill, The Taste Smokers, will participate from 11 to 3 by selling their signature Chicago-style smoked barbecue and sampling their “outrageous mac ‘n cheese” outside The Art Establishment, where visitors can browse the works of 20 artisans offering unique handmade gifts from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

There will be coffee, hot chocolate and mulled cider available all day, as well as a complimentary glass of wine for guests 21 and over after 5 p.m.

To participate in the passport program, simply pick up your free Fountain Hill Small Business Saturday passport at The Beauty of Dogs, visit all the businesses on the map from 11 to 3, and then drop your passport off at The Art Establishment. Each person who drops off a fully-stamped passport within the specified timeframe will be entered in a random drawing to win a $100 Visa gift card.

Free parking is available at all of the participating businesses.
