Hellertown Police said Wednesday that two 20-year-old men who were taken off the Saucon Rail Trail Tuesday evening were cited for underage drinking, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after they were determined to be under the influence of alcohol and under the age of 21.

In a news release, police said Noah Berger, of the 1800 block of Viola Lane, Lower Saucon Township, and Alec Ritchie, of the 2600 block of Wassergass Road, Lower Saucon Township, were in the Cinder Banks area near the rail trail shortly after 7 p.m.

One of the two men became unresponsive, which was why police were called to the area, the news release indicated.

Several readers posted comments on Facebook Tuesday night questioning why there was police activity in the area, and reporting that handcuffed people were observed being taken off the rail trail at Water Street on stretchers.
