Gold Medal Flour Recalled Due to E. coli Outbreak

Following a recall by General Mills, GIANT Food Stores announced Wednesday that it has removed from store shelves Gold Medal All Purpose Flour that is potentially linked to an outbreak of E. coli 0121.

Following a recall by General Mills, GIANT Food Stores announced Wednesday that it has removed from store shelves Gold Medal All Purpose Flour that is potentially linked to an outbreak of E. coli 0121.

The following product is included in this recall:

  • Gold Medal All Purpose Flour, 5 lb., UPC 1600010610 with Better if Used by Dates of18JUN2017KC, 01AUG2017KC, 13AUG2017KC through 21AUG2017KC

“Although most strains of E. coli are harmless, others can make you sick. E. coli O121 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration,” a news release from Giant said. “Seniors, the very young and persons with compromised immune systems are the most susceptible to foodborne illness.”

Customers who have purchased this product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to any Giant for a full refund.
