Up to $2,000 Reward Offered in Elk Killing Case

Pennsylvania State Police at Bethlehem announced Monday that a reward of up to $2,000 is being offered by Lehigh Valley Crime Stoppers for information that leads to the arrest of the person who killed a female elk at the Lehigh Valley Game Preserve (Trexler Nature Preserve) in North Whitehall Township over the weekend.

Pennsylvania State Police at Bethlehem announced Monday that a reward of up to $2,000 is being offered by Lehigh Valley Crime Stoppers for information that leads to the arrest of the person who killed a female elk at the Lehigh Valley Game Preserve (Trexler Nature Preserve) in North Whitehall Township over the weekend.

Police have not described how the elk was killed, but said it happened sometime between Saturday morning, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 8 a.m.

They have described the killing of the animal as “intentional” in news releases, and said Monday that the animal’s carcass was discovered by Lehigh Valley Zoo staff inside a fenced area.

The case is being investigated as an animal cruelty case.
