Longtime Saucon Valley Middle School Principal Pamela Bernardo will retire at the end of the school year, it was announced at the Saucon Valley School Board meeting Tuesday.

Saucon Valley Middle School Pamela Bernardo will retire at the end of the 2016-2017 school year, after 12 years of leadership at the school.

Superintendent Dr. Monica McHale-Small announced Bernardo’s retirement to the public.

“Ms. Bernardo is our senior administrator in the district, having served since 2000,” she said. “She was the assistant principal from the middle and elementary school from 2000 to 2005, and then in 2005 she was named the principal of the Saucon Valley Middle School.”

One of the highlights of Bernardo’s tenure at Saucon was when she was named Principal of the Year in 2014 by the Pennsylvania Middle School Association.

“Ms. Bernardo has consistently demonstrated her commitment to the district, to middle school education and most importantly to her students and teachers. She will be sorely missed,” McHale-Small said.

Bernardo was absent from the meeting. McHale-Small said the school principals were off for the night.
