William ‘Reds’ Horvath, 85, formerly of Polk Street, Bethlehem, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 at the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke’s, Lower Saucon Township.

William “Reds” Horvath, 85, formerly of Polk Street, Bethlehem, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017 at the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke’s, Lower Saucon Township. He was born in Bethlehem on Oct. 31, 1931 to the late Joseph J. and Veronika (Bokan) Horvath. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. William had worked at the former Bethlehem Steel for many years until his retirement. He was also the manager of the Tammany Democratic Club, Bethlehem.

SURVIVORS

Companion: Barbara Bologitz of Bethlehem; brother: Joseph of Lake Havasu, Arizona; nephew: The Rev. Jimmy Lee Werley and his wife Melanie of Mertztown;  niece: Barbara Cox of Garden Grove, Calif. He was predeceased by a sister: Helen H. Werley.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 10:30 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bethlehem. Military Honors will be accorded by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.

CONTRIBUTIONS

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local American Legion post.
