Helen Schweisgut, 88, of Hellertown, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the home of her son, David, of Hellertown. She was the wife of the late Francis J. “Frank” Schweisgut, who passed away April 6, 2008.

Helen Schweisgut, 88, of Hellertown, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the home of her son, David, of Hellertown. She was the wife of the late Francis J. “Frank” Schweisgut, who passed away April 6, 2008. Helen was born in Bethlehem on Nov. 17, 1929 to the late Alexander and Olga (McKay) Kozochonok. She was a payroll clerk at Lehigh University for seven years. Helen was a faithful member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Bethlehem, where she was a past Sunday School teacher and choir member. She enjoyed being part of the team that made perogies and baked goods at the church. She was past president of the PTA at the former Reinhard Elementary School, past president of the Ladies Auxiliary at American Legion Post 397, Hellertown and the VFW Post 3094 Ladies Auxiliary First Vice President from 2005 to 2006. She was a member of the 60+ Senior Citizens of Hellertown, the Saucon Valley Community Center and Friendship Club, Bethlehem. She was treasurer of the Saucon Ladies for 27 years.

SURVIVORS

Loving children: David Schweisgut of Hellertown, Diane (Charles V.) Hollowell of Bethlehem, Donna (James) Williams of San Francisco, Calif., Denise (Peter) Staats of Etters; grandchildren: Curtis and Cortney Hollowell, Valerie and Zachary Williams, Meredith and Treyton Staats. She was predeceased by a sister: Olga Kozochonok.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of St. Luke’s, 240 Union Station Plaza, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
