Just like their human counterparts are, Monarch butterflies and other beneficial species will soon be drawn to a popular trailhead on the Saucon Rail Trail in Lower Saucon Township. They won't be there to bicycle or jog, but they will be thankful for the efforts of those who do, some of whom recently created a native plant garden along Reading Drive.
Project Keep Hellertown Warm is once again providing hats, scarves, gloves and mittens to help those in need brave the cold winter months, with no questions asked and free of charge. The project returns for its third season in 2021, after it was launched by Saucon Source in 2018 as a way to anonymously help out members of the community who are in need of winter gear but may not have the means to purchase items themselves.
If you have plans to hit the Saucon Rail Trail next month you may need to rethink them, as a portion of the popular path will be closed for maintenance starting Monday, Nov. 8.
