Hellertown Police announced charges Wednesday against a borough man they say injected himself with heroin in a car in the 700 block of Main Street in August.

In a news release, police said Carl J. Fisher, of High Street, Hellertown, was arrested on the morning of Aug. 1 after he was allegedly observed “inside a vehicle actively injecting a substance into his wrist.”

Police said a blood toxicology test later revealed the presence of “opiates and a central nervous system depressant in (Fisher’s) system.”

Fisher has been charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-related DUI, police said.
