A relatively minor snowstorm prognosticators are saying could be the last of the season could affect travel across the Lehigh Valley Friday morning, according to forecasts.

The National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook Wednesday afternoon that light snow will develop across eastern Pennsylvania Thursday night, and continue into Friday morning.

“Accumulations up to an inch or two are possible,” the NWS statement said. “The snow will likely have an impact on the Friday morning commute.”

Friday’s high temperature is forecast to be 35 degrees, and Friday night’s low is expected to be 24.

The website/Facebook page Pennsylvania Weather Action is predicting slightly higher totals of 2 to 5 inches across much of the state in its “first call.”

Forecaster Josh Adams said in a post that “with well above average temperatures next week and beyond” Friday’s storm “could be the last winter storm of the season.”

Extended forecasts are calling for highs in the low 70s by the end of next week, which is well above normal for this time of year.

Temperatures this winter have averaged above normal across the Lehigh Valley and Mid-Atlantic, and with the exception of a single, historic blizzard that paralyzed the area in late January, there has been little frozen precipitation to speak of.
