Edwin Lovin Laub, 85, of Hellertown died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill.

Edwin Lovin Laub, 85, of Hellertown died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Karyl E. (Kugler) Laub. Ed was born in Hellertown on July 8, 1930 to the late Edwin L. and Elsie I. (Eckert) Laub. He was a 1949 graduate of Hellertown High School, and a member of the basketball District II Championship team in 1948-1949. Ed was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown, where he served as Usher; and a past member of the Hellertown Lions Club, where he was past Financial Secretary and the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was an avid Phillies fan. He had worked as a plasterer for Irvin Pearson and Eddie Richards, Hellertown, for several years. In 1964 he began working at the former Carson’s Hardware, Hellertown, where he was employed until his retirement.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his wife of 64 years; children: Janis (Gary) Weaver of Hellertown, James (Sally) of Loxahatchee, Fla., Paul (Denise) of Hellertown; daughters-in-law: Marie E. of Hellertown, Susan M. of Quakertown; brother: Carl A. (Gloria A.) of Hellertown; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons: David A. Laub (Dec. 25, 2007) and Roger Laub (March 24, 2011).

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a service at 7:30 p.m. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
