A Bethlehem man is charged with DUI and other offenses after Lower Saucon Township Police say he allegedly crashed into large rocks and water pipes along Bingen Road near Green Acres Drive and was subsequently determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

In a news release issued Monday, police said Angel Luis Garcia-Aponte, 23, of the 1000 block of Livingston Street, left the roadway and crashed at the corner of the two roads at around 10 p.m. June 25.

“Angel had glassy/bloodshot eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath,” police said.

He was taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital for treatment, they added.

A blood draw indicated that Garcia-Aponte’s blood alcohol concentration was .23 percent, which is nearly three times the legal limit, police said.
