If you have any houseplants or sensitive vegetation outside, now is the time to either bring them indoors or cover them to protect them from what could be a killing freeze Thursday night into Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Lehigh, Northampton and Upper Bucks counties as well as parts of New Jersey for temperatures that could drop to as low as 29 degrees between 1 and 9 a.m. Friday.
A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely, along with conditions that could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
Although Friday’s early morning air will be frigid, by the afternoon, with abundant sunshine, temperatures should rebound to near 60, according to the NWS forecast for Hellertown.
The average high temperature for this time of year in the Lehigh Valley is 63, while the average low temperature is 41, according to NWS climate data for Allentown.
