Free Factory Tour at Martin Guitar is Fun Family Daytrip

My family and I recently paid a visit to the Martin Guitar factory in Nazareth. It was both an opportunity to see how the iconic instruments are made and to visit my sister, who works for the company. Our excellent tour guide, Sean, took us on an hour-long, up-close journey through the guitar manufacturing process at Martin, where modern technology and old-school craftsmanship both play a part. Parts of the facility are off-limits to visitors, but it was amazing to be able to stand feet from workers who bring the instruments to life, watching them do their jobs. We also enjoyed visiting the gift shop and museum, which are open daily.

6 Closed LV Bottom Dollar Stores Won’t Reopen as ALDI

Discount grocer ALDI announced its highly-anticipated plans for the 66 Bottom Dollar stores it has purchased from Delhaize Group Friday. Only two of the Lehigh Valley’s eight Bottom Dollar stores–which closed in January–will reopen as ALDI stores, according to a company press release. That’s a decision that’s likely to disappoint some local consumers, who’ve been vocal on social media about the need for grocery stores to replace the ones Bottom Dollar shuttered just a few years after opening them. According to the news release, the six Lehigh Valley Bottom Dollar stores that will remain closed while ALDI evalutes them “for sale, sublease or assignment” are:

Fountain Hill – 1529 Broadway
Allentown – 2919 Lehigh St. Bethlehem – 719 Stefko Blvd.

Saucon Youth Wrestling Sweeps the Day

Special to Saucon Source

It was a great weekend for Saucon Valley wrestling. The day after the high school varsity team destroyed Southern Lehigh 73-3, the Saucon youth program won all four of their matches. Traveling to Nazareth Area Middle School, the Panthers first took on the Nazareth Blue Eagles. The Saucon youth JVs wrestled tough and won 64-12. The youth varsity followed, winning 54-24.
