The Saucon Valley Farmers’ Market’s annual People’s Choice Cabbage Fest was held Sunday, Oct. 9 and featured a large number of cabbage-themed food entries, which were voted upon by visitors to the market who paid $3 to taste-test them.

Market chairperson Shelley Goldberg–who announced the winners in an email–called this year’s Cabbage Fest an “amazing event.”

First Place honors went to Holben Farms for their Short Ribs with Cabbage dish.

Second Place was awarded to Couch Potato doh for their Ecuadorean Cabbage & Potato Soup.

For Third Place, there was a triple tie between Aunt Jack’s Real Home Bakery, Flint Hill Farms & Educational Center and Rising Sun Coffee Roasters.

Prizes for the winners were donated by market vendors Picklelicious (a large container of pickles for the 1st Place winner), Elaine Kantor/Heritage Farms (a handmade purse filled with corn), Wasel’s Omelettes, Sal Lee Farms and The Wayfare Baker.

The Saucon Valley Farmers’ Market is held Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Hellertown’s Water Street Park through late November. This year’s final market will be held on Sunday, Nov. 20.

Don’t forget to visit Saucon Source’s booth at the market this Sunday (Oct. 16), when Honey Fest will be held. Visitors will receive a sweet surprise on a first come, first served basis.
