A Northampton man is charged with DUI and the recipient of a traffic citation after Lower Saucon Township Police say he allegedly drove with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) that was more than three times the legal limit.

According to police, Joseph Zajac, 51, was stopped at 11:15 a.m. April 17 on Rt. 378 northbound after they received a report of a reckless driver in that area.

Police said that after Zajac failed field sobriety tests he was taken to St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill for a blood test, which allegedly indicated that his BAC was .26 percent.

The legal limit for drivers in Pennsylvania is .08 percent.

Police said the traffic violation Zajac was cited for is Failure to Maintain a Single Traffic Lane.
