A surveillance camera captured this image of the vehicle a resident says a suspect in the attempted car break-in was driving.
NOTE: This story has been updated with additional information from the Lower Saucon Township Police Department. An earlier version of this story indicated that the attempted break-in occurred Friday. It actually occurred Thursday evening, however.
A resident of the neighborhood off Black River Road near Rt. 378 in Lower Saucon Township has reported to Saucon Source that there was an attempted car break-in outside the Sanbrook Apartments Thursday evening.
The apartment complex is located at Alice Drive and Black River Road.
The resident said township police are investigating the incident and also provided a surveillance image of the vehicle the person suspected of the crime was driving.
Police later circulated the same image in a Crimewatch post in which they said the suspect’s vehicle is a black four-door Honda which was leaving the parking lot when officers responded to the scene.
“Police attempted to stop the vehicle, which fled north on Rt. 378 into Bethlehem city,” the Crimewatch post indicated. “Police terminated the pursuit when the driver began increasing his speed and driving recklessly.”
This is the second report of criminal activity in the 2400 block of Black River Road in as many days.
Ralph Lee Shoemaker, 44, was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $100,000 straight bail following a preliminary arraignment Thursday morning.
Anyone with information about Friday’s incident should contact Lower Saucon Township Police at 610-759-2200 or using the department’s Crimewatch tip submission form.

The Sanbrook Apartments are located at 2443 Black River Road in Lower Saucon Township.
